Post subject: Video Terminal, MULT NSN: 5821-01-543-2504

I am currenlty deployed and doing the inventories, I noticed we have a Video Terminal Mult on the books. The only thing the supply sergeant said was there was onlY the computer. Well I went on FED LOG and saw that the equipment is valued at $75,000. There is no way a panasonic LAPTOP is worth that much. I tried referencing a TM, pictures, components for this equipment and I got nothing. Does anyone have any info on this peice of equipment? I would very very much appreciate it.

Thanks.

SGT A.

This item is the ONE SYSTEM REMOTE VIDEO TERMINAL (OSRVT) AN/USQ-197. Here's an article with some background information on the system:
http://defense-update.com/products/r/rover.htm

And here's another article with some more details: http://www.janes.com/articles/Janes-Ele ... tates.html

Based on the fielding cost of $3.9 million for 51 units, a price of $75K for each one would seem to make sense. Unfortunately we don't have pictures or TM's on it.

There's 3 SN that will be on your hand reciept for the OSRVT-

The Computer system, multipurpose (The laptop) LIN FA950P NSN 5895016139299

The Reciever-Transmitter (The big metal box that all the cables go into, should be tan if its a block 30 and black if its older) LIN P05003 NSN 5821015998968

The actual big toughbox the system came in (Don't ask me why they labeled the box as video terminal, multif) LIN t81951 NSN 5821016044565

I know this post is super old but when I googled for an answer I found nothing and this thread came up.

I had the same issue and I found the serial number on the box itself.
