This message board is here so you can request NSN's to be added to the ArmyProperty library. To do this, you'll need to log in to the forums (or create an account..... sorry, the existing ArmyProperty user database doesn't carry over to the forums...... we're working on getting that fixed). Once you are logged in, click on the "New Topic" button and make your request. Then we'll do some looking on our end and see what we can find out. But...... we can't guarantee that we'll be able to find every NSN that people request, because of the difficulty in finding certain hard-to-find parts and items. (Any assistance from the community would be highly appreciated, if you know the answer to a question that we're stumped about!)

Hello all. Just a quick note. We've had a number of questions about the "correct" NSN for the MOLLE 2-magazine pouch in Army Universal. The question is whether the NSN is 8465-01-524-0606 or 8465-01-525-0606. The answer is that it's definitely the second one (with a "5" in the 9th position): http://www.armyproperty.com/nsn/8465-01-525-0606

You can always FedLog the NSN if you're not sure. The DLA's description is "POUCH,M4 TWO MAG"

On the other hand, if you try to FedLog the first NSN (8465-01-524-0606), the system actually returns a completely different item: 2520-01-524-0606, specifically a "HOUSING SECTION,AXLE ASSEMBLY,AUTOMOTIVE." That's because FedLog ignores the first 4 digits (the FSC), and returns whatever item matches the NIIN (last 9 digits) in question. This item has a FedLog price of $643, which is about $630 more than what a mag pouch actually costs.

Keep in mind that no two items can share the same NIIN. The NIIN is a unique identifier, and the FSC is actually "nonessential" information. The only exception to this is when DLA reclassifies an item from one FSC to a different one. An example of this would be a pouch for a medical kit (such as the Army IFAK), which could fall under FSC 8465 or 6545.
