ALERT: Beware of counterfeit EOTech scopes!

If you have an EOTech scope, please take a minute or two to read this article, then check to make sure that your EOTech is legitimate and not counterfeit.  It has come to our attention that the counterfeiters have been getting better and better at creating products that LOOK almost exactly like their legitimate counterparts.  However, these fakes DO NOT nearly meet the specs of the actual scopes and depending on the type of counterfeit, could be extremely dangerous if actually used in combat.

The primary danger of using these counterfeit scopes is as follows:

Counterfeit EOTech scopes emit a signal from the front of the sight, thereby potentially giving away your position.

Again, if you have an EOTech sight, please check to make sure that it does not emit any light from the front of the sight.  Also, please note the following characteristics of the counterfeits:

1.  They often require small “hearing aid” style batteries rather than the usual AA (newer models) or lithium 123A battery.

2.  The optics of the counterfeits are more reflective than the real ones.  Again, the danger here is that they will reflect sunlight and give away your position.

3.  Counterfeits have an NV button that instead of switching to night vision mode, changes the color of the LED.

4.  Counterfeits do not have an EOTech manufacturing and serial number sticker, the real ones have this sticker.
