This message board is here so you can view the latest additions to our NSN library. In addition, you can request new NSN's that you don't currently see listed. To do this, click on the "New Topic" button and make your request. So if you're looking for the NSN for a certain model of 5-ton truck, or a certain kind of power supply, or antenna kit, etc, just put as much information as you know: LIN, Nomenclature, or anything else that would be helpful. If desired, add an email / AKO address if you want a direct reply (this is not required). Then we'll do some looking on our end and see what we can find out. But...... we can't guarantee that we'l be able to find every NSN that people request, because of the difficulty in conducting detailed research on each one. (Assistance from the community would be highly appreciated, in cases where we're stumped!)

Hey all. We know E-Tools have been in the news lately, after the report of a Coalition servicemember using one to annihilate an ISIS fighter. See here: https://www.facebook.com/ArmyProperty/p ... 5776910874

That being the case, we think it's important to make sure everyone has the proper NSN's to use when ordering these items. Make sure you know which one you want, so you too can deploy and fight with the proper gear.

Here's the E-Tool in widest circulation.... solid steel blade, aluminum handle, very strong and dependable... the one most of us were issued, back in the day, and we loved it. The NSN is from 1967: http://www.armyproperty.com/nsn/5120-00-878-5932

In the year 2000, Gerber introduced an improved E-Tool. It had a fiberglass handle (more durable than the aluminum handle on the original one, which had been known to break on occasion, during heavy fighting) and a rounded tip. It's possible that the original pointed tip was a violation of the Geneva Conventions, which is why the new one needed a rounded tip, but we're not sure. Either way, here it is. A lot of people really like this version. http://www.armyproperty.com/nsn/5120-01-476-7556

Here's an NSN, created in 2004, for a commercial variant of the original. It's a cheaply made import and we WOULD NOT recommend it. You definitely wouldn't want to trust your life to it. Out of courtesy, we're not gonna name the brand. We actually redirect orders for this one, to the original (ending in 5932). http://www.armyproperty.com/nsn/5120-01-518-6126

Here's a newer one, created in 2005, for a Gerber E-Tool which has a folding pick -- in case it's not enough to beat a guy over the head with the main blade. https://www.armyproperty.com/nsn/5120-01-530-9641

Four years later in 2009, a final NSN was introduced. This was for the Gerber E-Tool, with an included green plastic case/sheath, but without the folding pick attachment.
