 Post subject: Date of manufacture of Beretta M9 9mm

I am trying to find out if there is any way to tell when an Beretta M9 was manufactured. There is a number on the upper slide above the serial number that is on the lower receiver. Is there a way to decode the number to get a date a manufacture?

Beretta probably keeps detailed information on all weapons they produce, at the serial-number level, so if you contact them they should be able to tell you:
