The Modular General Purpose Tent System (MGPTS) , a larger, modular, pole supported soft-walled tent made with polyester duck fabric, is extendable in length indefinitely in 18' increments and complexes with other types of shelters, including the TEMPER tent. The MGPTS, (available in both camo green (483) and desert tan (459), is designed to provide protect people and equipment from various climate and weather conditions ranging from hot to severe cold. More versatile and more habitable than its predecessor, the former General Purpose tents, the MGPTS can be used for medical facilities, troop billeting, command and control, field service support, emergency / disaster relief, maintenance functions and storage. The MGPTS is available in 3 sizes: small, medium and large. The floor area of the MGPTS - medium is 648 sq. ft.

The MGPTS can be erected quickly under normal conditions and can be complexed in various combinations and length. The small MGPTS can be setup in 27 minutes by 4 persons, the medium requires 36 minutes using the same number of persons and the large takes 67 minutes for setup using 6 persons. The use of interchangeable components between the three different sizes reduces logistics burdens.

The MGPTS utilizes a tensioned fabric roof to create a structure which distributes wind, rain and snow loads from all fabric directly to the support system. The major components of the MGPTS are the side poles, end poles, center poles, end sections and midsections. The end section includes the roof, side and end walls. Every end section has a door, window, ECU and electrical feed throughs. The mid section is comprised of the roof and side sections. Every mid section has a door and a window. The end sections attach to the mid section using grommet and becket lacing. Two flaps are buckled over the becket lacing creating a weather proof, light secure joint.
